Rainbow Dust in the Sky offers a delicate, abstract echo of Harold Arlen’s iconic Over the Rainbow, famously sung by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz. Rather than reinterpreting the song, the piece deconstructs it—dissolving its narrative and melodic clarity to suggest shifting, discontinuous outlines. The song remains only as a distant trace, resurfacing in the form of a recurring minor third that quietly evokes the lullaby-like atmosphere at the heart of the work. Through subtle gestures and a suspended, circular structure, the music unfolds as a drifting memory—fragile, elusive, and quietly resonant.
